Winter can be a tough season for many people. The days are shorter, the weather is colder, and the holiday hustle can be stressful. For centuries, cultures around the world have celebrated the return of the sun with festivals and rituals. While the winter solstice may seem like a rather obscure event, its effects on our mental and emotional wellbeing are very real. Just as the sun provides warmth and light to our physical bodies, so too does it nourish our spirits. Celebration of the winter solstice helps to recharge our inner batteries and put us back in alignment with the natural rhythms of the universe. In addition to its physical benefits, the winter solstice also provides a sense of community and connection. At the Northeast Florida Winter Solstice Festival, we will come together and engage in activities that support our health and well-being.
